Relationship Verses From The Bible

Looking for interesting relationship verses from the bible or God’s view when it comes to relationships? There are so many verses in the bible that talk about marriage or romantic relationships, parent-child relationships and even singleness, which is a gift.

God is the author of relationships and he wants to see relationships thrive. That is why after creating everything, God said in Genesis 2:18 “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

And the bible says in Genesis 1:28 “God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.”

God wants people to be fruitful and subdue the earth and that happens as a result of a relationship.

Relationship Verses From The Bible

1. Genesis 2:18

“Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.””

2. Genesis 2:24

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

When people enter into any form of a romantic relationship, they become one. That is why 1 Corinthians 6:16 says “Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.””

3. Proverbs 18:22

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.”

This verse says that if you find a wife, God gives you favour. So this means that there is a certain level of favour that a man or woman won’t attract until they are married.

4. Ecclesiastes 4:9-11

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?

When you are in a relationship, you have a partner. What would take twice the effort you can do it in half the time. You also have someone to help you and encourage you.

5. Philippians 2:5-7

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

For a relationship to work, it is necessary for both parties to be willing to serve, humbled and not have pride. If you don’t approach a relationship with a servant mindset, the relationship is bound to fail.

6. Numbers 30:16

“These are the regulations the Lord gave Moses concerning relationships between a man and his wife, and between a father and his young daughter still living at home.”

Numbers 30, is a relationship verse from the bible which states the regulations for couples, families and singles.

Bible Verses About Relationships With Girlfriend

Bible Verses About Relationships With Girlfriend
Relationship verses from the bible

You might be curious to know if there are any bible verses about relationships with girlfriend. I am happy to inform you that there are many dating bible verses.

7. Proverbs 31:30

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised”

The bible says when you are in a relationship with a girlfriend, don’t only consider her charm or beauty, but rather be with a woman who fears God.

8. Proverbs 31:3

“Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings.”

The bible encourages men not to put all their strength on girlfriends or women, because being with the wrong women can be the cause of your downfall. The reason Samson was defeated in Judges 16, was because of his girlfriend Delilah.

9. Proverbs 30:18-19

“There are three things that are too amazing for me, four that I do not understand: the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a young woman.”

10. 1 Corinthians 7:1-2

“Now for the matters you wrote about: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.”

The bible encourages a man to abstain from sexual activities but gives a green light if they are married.

11. 1 Corinthians 7:36

If anyone is worried that he might not be acting honorably toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if his passions are too strong and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married.”

12. 1 Corinthians 7:37-38

“But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin—this man also does the right thing. So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does better.”

The bible doesn’t force you to get married to the girlfriends that you will date, as long you will not have any sexual relations with them.

Bible Verses For Boyfriend And Girlfriend

Bible Verses For Boyfriend And Girlfriend
Relationship verses from the bible 1 Corinthians 7:9

13. 1 Corinthians 7:9

“But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.”

The bible says if you can’t remain celibate when you are in a relationship, it is better to get married.

14. Hebrews 13:4

“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

The bible expects the lovers to remain pure and if they don’t, He regards them as sexually immoral and adulterous.

15. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.”

This bible verse encourages the couple to abstain because God has given everyone the ability to exercise self-control.

16. Ephesians 6:1-3

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.””

It is important to choose to be in a relationship with someone who honors their parents. Because if they don’t how will they honour you? Plus they won’t live long since they have brought curses upon themselves.

17. 1 John 3:18

“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

It is important to be in a relationship with someone who shows you love through their actions and not only in words.

Bible Verses On Relationships And Dating

18. Isaiah 62:5

“As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”

19. Proverbs 19:14

“House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.”

A good wife is not like riches that can be inherited, she comes from God. But you can only know if she is prudent by having a relationship with God and with her.

20. Proverbs 31:10

“An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.”

21. Galatians 5:16

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

When dating, there is a high chance that you will wish to be intimate with your partner. But the word encourages us to walk by the spirit because through it you will be able to resist those desires.

22. 1 Corinthians 6:18

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.”

The bible says when you engage in sexual activities before marriage you are sinning against your own body. Have you heard of soul ties, it is also as a result of this. Because even after leaving such a relationship, you are still one with the person you slept with.

Bible Verses About Relationships With Boyfriend

Bible Verses About Relationships With Boyfriend

“Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the room of the one who conceived me.”

24. Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

When in a relationship, it is important to find out what God thinks about that relationship. And also test the guy as this will help you assess his true qualities and his true intentions for you.

25. 2 Corinthians 6:14

“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”

This bible verse says that you should be in a relationship with someone who shares the same beliefs as you.

26. 1 Corinthians 15:33

“Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.””

If you are in a relationship with a bad boy, he will surely make you compromise on your good morals and you will end up being sexually immoral among other things.

27. Genesis 2:18

“Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.””

Relationship Bible Verses About Love

28. Song of songs 2:7

“Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.”

The bible says you should not rush to be in a relationship or force someone to love you. Wait for the time to be right because loving someone should come effortlessly.

29. Genesis 29:20

“So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.”

Jacob was in love with Rachael and therefore working and waiting for her for seven years was worth it. So this shows that if someone loves you, they will do what it takes to win you over.

30. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

This bible verse summarises what love is in a relationship.

31. 1 Peter 4:8

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

When in a relationship, love is key because it will make it easier to forgive; as at some point your partner will not meet your expectations.

Bible Verses True Love Between Man Woman

Does true love really exist between a man and a woman? Is it biblical and what exactly does it entail? These verses will answer your questions.

32. Romans 12:10

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves.”

True love is when you put the needs of your partner before your own needs. That is why the bible in John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

This means that when you have true love for someone, you will give unreservedly and you want what is best for them.

33. Ephesians 5:25

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

True love means giving up a part yourself. Christ loved the people that is why He gave himself up to be crucified. So the bible says a man should have this kind of love for a woman.

34. Proverbs 17:17

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

True love means loving at all times, in good and bad times. So when in a relationship, you have to be friends because you will love each other at all times.

35. John 15:13

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

36. Ecclesiastes 9:9

“Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun.”

37. Song of songs 2:1-3

“I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. As a lily among brambles, so is my love among the young women. As an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Sustain me with raisins; refresh me with apples, for I am sick with love.”

Bible Verses For Relationship Problems

Are you experiencing problems in your relationship? This is what His word says in Isaiah 43:2-4 “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.”

So God promises to be with you even when you go through difficult times in your relationship or marriage. Here are more bible verses for relationship problems:

38. 1 Corinthians 10:13

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

Note that the problems that you are encountering in your relationship are seasonal, God will provide an escape.

39. Mark 10:6-9

“But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.””

44. Ephesians 4:2-3

“with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

46. 1 Corinthians 7:10-11

47. 1 Corinthians 7:12-14

“To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband”

48. Proverbs 5:18-19

But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

50. Ephesians 5:22-25

“Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her”

51. Hebrews 13:4

“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

52. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5

The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”
