What does the bible say about care? There are numerous care verses in the Bible. God cares so much about us, but he also wants us to show care to other people.

1. Genesis 50:19-21

2. Numbers 11:23

Through Gehazi Elisha said, “You’ve gone far beyond the call of duty in taking care of us; what can we do for you? Do you have a request we can bring to the king or to the commander of the army?” She replied, “Nothing. I’m secure and satisfied in my family.”

7. Esther 10:3

Mordecai the Jew ranked second in command to King Xerxes. He was popular among the Jews and greatly respected by them. He worked hard for the good of his people; he cared for the peace and prosperity of his race.

8. Job 29:1-2

Job now resumed his response: “Oh, how I long for the good old days, when God took such very good care of me. 

9. Psalm 28:8-9

Benefits of helping others in the bible

When you help others, it is not in vain. God promises to reward you in His word. Here are seven great benefits of helping other people.

1. You will also be shown mercy

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” Matthew 5:7

2. God will always guide you and satisfy you

“And if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will go forth in the darkness, and your night will be like noonday. The LORD will always guide you; He will satisfy you in a sun-scorched land and strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:10-11

3. You will also be given

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

When Jesus was on earth, he constantly spoke of being a servant and serving others.

1. 1 Peter 4:10-11

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. Bible stories about caring for others

1. The good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-35

“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 

A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 

But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. 

Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

2. Moses, the daughters of the priest of Midian and Reuel in Exodus 2:16-22

Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock. Some shepherds came along and drove them away, but Moses got up and came to their rescue and watered their flock.

When the girls returned to Reuel their father, he asked them, “Why have you returned so early today?” They answered, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock.”

“And where is he?” Reuel asked his daughters. “Why did you leave him? Invite him to have something to eat.”

Moses agreed to stay with the man, who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, saying, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.”

So you can see here that because Moses cared for the daughters of Reuel, their father also showed him kindness. He found marriage, family and accommodation in a foreign land. 

3. Joseph the dreamer and his family in Genesis 37 – 50

Joseph was thrown into the pit by his brothers and they decided to sell him to the Ishmaelites. Thereafter they lied to their father that he was eaten by the animals. 

Joseph then worked for Potipher and was falsely accused of rape. He was then arrested, but when he was in prison, he would interpret dreams for other people.

A man who was assisted by him in prison told the king that he knew someone who could interpret dreams. Joseph was then released from prison in order to interpret the dream of the king of Egypt. After he interpreted the dream, he was made Prime minister of Egypt. 

One day when his brothers came to Egypt to buy food, he showed them kindness and even forgave them for mistreating him. Read this extract in Genesis 45:9-11

“Hurry back to my father. Tell him, ‘Your son Joseph says: I’m master of all of Egypt. Come as fast as you can and join me here. I’ll give you a place to live in Goshen where you’ll be close to me—you, your children, your grandchildren, your flocks, your herds, and anything else you can think of. I’ll take care of you there completely. There are still five more years of famine ahead; I’ll make sure all your needs are taken care of, you and everyone connected with you—you won’t want for a thing.’

4. The Shunamite woman and Elijah in 2 Kings 4:8-16

One day Elisha went on to Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there to eat food. And she said to her husband, “Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God who is continually passing our way. Let us make a small room on the roof with walls and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp, so that whenever he comes to us, he can go in there.”

One day he came there, and he turned into the chamber and rested there. And he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite.” When he had called her, she stood before him. And he said to him, “Say now to her, ‘See, you have taken all this trouble for us; what is to be done for you? Would you have a word spoken on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’” She answered, “I dwell among my own people.” And he said, “What then is to be done for her?” Gehazi answered, “Well, she has no son, and her husband is old.” He said, “Call her.” And when he had called her, she stood in the doorway. And he said, “At this season, about this time next year, you shall embrace a son.”

And you can see here that through caring for Elijah, she became a mother after many years of being barren. 

5. Ruth and Naomi

If you read the entire book of Ruth in the bible, it is about a woman called Naomi who lost her husband and two sons. Her sons were married at their time of passing but had no children. But even after they passed on, Ruth refused to leave her mother-in-law. 

This is what the bible says in Ruth 1:16-18

But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.” And when Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more.
